Landscape – Grounds Maintenance Supervisor
Childs Landscape Contractors, Inc. is looking for a skilled individual who will be responsible for managing all field operations for our ground maintenance division. This individual will coordinate the procurement and scheduled use of resources such as labor, equipment, and materials to ensure maximum use and completion of work within budget, safety guidelines, and quality standards. In addition, this individual will guide and mentor field staff and assist them in carrying out their duties as needed. This position will often serve as the primary interface between the customer and the crew.
Work Hours are Monday-Friday 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., some Saturdays may be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- This is a working supervisor position that coordinates, supervises, and trains all ground maintenance team members at the contracted site locations.
- Perform quality control inspections of contracted site locations and reporting of any signs of abnormal development in lawns, shrubs, trees, etc., and recommend improvements as needed.
- Ensure crew and staff timesheet accuracy and timeliness. Review and initial or sign time sheets, ensure proper use of leave. Authorize overtime with the approval of the ground maintenance department managers.
- Ensure completion and compliance with all other administrative paperwork and procedures, as required, to include security measures. Perform duties in conformance of any safety rules, regulations, and procedures given in writing or orally.
- Act as the first point of contact for the foreman in case of emergency, accident, incident, or worker problem at the contracted sites. Provide initial investigation and report to Operations. Ensure accuracy and timeliness of contact sheets, incident reports, accident reports, workers’ compensation forms, and any other required reports or records.
- Attend meetings with ground maintenance managers as scheduled.
Qualifications, Requirements, and Skills:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Physical requirements – Must be able to stand, walk, crawl, stoop, kneel, crouch, use hands, talk, and hear. Ability to lift 60 lbs.
- 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in landscape/ground maintenance work, horticultural skills, and relevant equipment knowledge required
- Management/supervisory experience preferred
- Snow removal and irrigation experience preferred
- A Certified Pesticide Applicator License is preferred
- Clean driving record and valid driver’s license required
- Must be able to obtain a DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate and pass a drug screen
- Bilingual English/Spanish speaker
