Job summary

PRIDE Industries is seeking a Landscape Gardener to install and maintain landscapes, roads, and parking areas at assigned facilities. Under supervision, you will keep grounds safe and pristine using standard practices and equipment.

Typical duties include mowing, trimming, applying fertilizers and weed control, cleanup, irrigation monitoring, and assisting with special projects as needed. This is an on-site position serving nationwide customers.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year landscaping experience preferred.
• Knowledge of landscape maintenance standards, materials, and safe chemical use preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team, customers and others.
• Strong written business English communication.
• Human relations skills to maintain effective working relationships.
• Strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs landscape maintenance and improvement projects at customer locations.
• Mows lawns, trims hedges and shrubs, maintains landscape appearance.
• Applies fertilizer, weed killer, and pesticides; pulls weeds; maintains beds.
• Picks up trash and leaves for a clean grounds appearance.
• Monitors irrigation systems to ensure proper watering.
• Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under close supervision, the Landscape Gardener installs and maintains landscaped areas, roads, and parking lots of assigned facilities. Employees in this job perform work to assure grounds are maintained in safe and pristine condition. This job class requires knowledge of landscaping practices, procedures, supplies and equipment and the ability to perform landscaping job functions in a safe and timely manner.

TYPICAL DUTIES

• Performs landscape maintenance activities and improvement projects at customer locations.
• Mows lawns, trims hedges and shrubs, maintains overall appearance of landscape vegetation and grounds.
• Applies fertilizer, weed killer, and necessary pesticides, pulls weeds, and maintains flower beds.
• Pick up trash, leaves, and provides a clean and neat appearance of the grounds.
• Monitors and maintains irrigation systems to ensure that vegetation is properly irrigated.
• Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• A minimum of one year of experience in landscaping is preferred;
• Knowledge of landscape maintenance standards and techniques, materials, and the safe and proper use of chemicals preferred;
• Ability to communicate effectively and respond to questions and requests from team, customers and others;
• Effective written communication skills using appropriate business English;
• Human relations skills to maintain effective working relationships with team;
• Effective customer service skills.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or GED

CERTIFICATES REQUIRED

• Valid Driver's License

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Standing, and/or walking
• Bending and stooping
• Exposure to toxic substances
• Exposure to wind, rain, cold, and heat
• Noise from equipment
• Lifting 35 lbs. regularly

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Majority of work is performed outside at job sites subject to weather conditions in an environment using landscaping tools and equipment. Travel between worksites may be required.
