Job summary

AAA Landscape is seeking a Landscape Estimator to join our Construction Division. This role prepares accurate and competitive estimates for commercial landscape and irrigation construction projects throughout Arizona.

The estimator will read plans and specifications, develop takeoffs, and assemble cost data using our estimating systems and AI-assisted tools. You will review bid documents, solicit supplier quotes, and participate in bid reviews with leadership.

Qualifications

Experience estimating commercial landscape or irrigation projects.
Ability to read and interpret landscape, irrigation, civil plans and specs.
Willingness to learn AI-assisted estimating and digital takeoff tools.
Strong math and analytical skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Review ITBs, RFPs, plans, specs, addenda, and bid documents.
Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs for landscape and irrigation scopes.
Use estimating systems and AI tools to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Validate technology-generated quantities against plans and specs.
Identify discrepancies and raise them for review.
Prepare RFIs when clarification is needed.
Develop project estimates including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
Solicit pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
Review quotations for completeness and compliance.
Prepare proposal inclusions, exclusions, and alternates.
Maintain bid schedules and meet deadlines.
Participate in estimate reviews with leadership.

LANDSCAPE ESTIMATOR – COMMERCIAL LANDSCAPE & IRRIGATION

Location: PhoenixArizona

POSITION OVERVIEW

AAA Landscape is seeking a Landscape Estimator to join our Construction Division. This position will prepare accurate and competitive estimates for commercial landscape and irrigation construction projects throughout Arizona.

The successful candidate will have experience in landscape construction, irrigation, estimating, or a related field; be able to read and interpret construction plans and specifications; and have a strong desire to develop their estimating knowledge.

AAA Landscape utilizes established estimating systems together with AI-assisted takeoff technology. The successful candidate must be comfortable learning and using new technology while understanding that all technology-generated quantities and information must be reviewed and validated for accuracy.

This is an estimating position and is not a landscape design or sales role.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Review Invitations to Bid (ITBs), Requests for Proposal (RFPs), plans, specifications, addenda, and other bid documents to understand project requirements and scope.
Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs for commercial landscape, irrigation, and related construction scopes.
Use AAA Landscape's estimating systems and AI-assisted takeoff technology to improve estimating efficiency and accuracy.
Review and validate technology-generated quantities against project plans and specifications.
Identify discrepancies, omissions, unusual details, and potential scope issues and bring them forward for review.
Prepare RFIs when additional information or clarification is required.
Develop project estimates incorporating labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, production rates, and other project costs.
Solicit pricing from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors.
Review supplier and subcontractor quotations for completeness and compliance with project requirements.
Prepare proposal inclusions, exclusions, clarifications, alternates, and other required bid information.
Maintain bid schedules and ensure assigned estimates and proposals are completed by required deadlines.
Participate in estimate reviews with Construction leadership before bid submission.
Maintain organized bid documents, pricing information, supplier quotations, and estimating records.
Assist with project turnover to Project Management and Purchasing following award.
Assist with maintaining estimating assemblies, production rates, material pricing, historical cost information, and estimating procedures.
Continue developing knowledge of landscape and irrigation construction methods, materials, labor requirements, equipment, and Arizona construction practices.
Participate in evaluating and adopting new estimating technology and processes that improve accuracy and efficiency.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Experience in commercial landscape or irrigation estimating, landscape construction, project coordination, or a related construction field preferred.
Understanding of commercial landscape and irrigation construction methods.
Ability to read and interpret landscape, irrigation, civil, and related construction plans and specifications.
Knowledge of Arizona plant materials, landscape materials, irrigation systems, and regional construction practices is preferred.
Understanding of quantity takeoff, labor, materials, equipment, and basic construction estimating principles.
Comfortable learning and using AI-assisted estimating, digital takeoff, and other construction technology.
Ability and willingness to verify technology-generated information rather than relying solely on automated results.
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
Experience with Sage/Timberline, On-Screen Takeoff, or comparable estimating and takeoff platforms is beneficial.
Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
Excellent organization and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with General Contractors, suppliers, subcontractors, Project Managers, and other members of the estimating and construction teams.
Degree in Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Engineering, or a related field is beneficial but not required. Relevant industry experience will be considered in place of formal education.
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record when driving is required for the position.
