Job summary

Rine Landscape Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced Landscape Enhancement Crew Leader to guide a two-person team on residential landscape projects. The role requires planning daily work, operating commercial-grade equipment, and ensuring quality, safety, and client satisfaction in Ohio.

You will report to the Maintenance Production Manager and collaborate with management and sales. Starting pay is $22/hour with benefits and training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Valid Ohio driver’s license required and acceptable driving record.

Valid Ohio Driver’s License Required

Rine Landscape Group is seeking an experienced Landscape Enhancement Crew Leader to lead a team of one to two team members in completing residential landscape enhancements and small-scale work-order projects.

Important requirement: This position requires a valid Ohio driver’s license and an acceptable driving record. The selected candidate must regularly drive company trucks and truck/trailer combinations while transporting team members, equipment, and materials. Applicants without a valid driver’s license will not be considered.

This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone who can plan daily work, operate commercial‑grade equipment, apply sound horticultural practices, and take ownership of quality, efficiency, equipment care, safety, and client communication.

The position reports to the Maintenance Production Manager and works closely with management and sales.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership and Production

• Plan and organize daily assignments, work sequencing, materials, and equipment.
• Lead a small team while working alongside team members in the field.
• Complete work within established scopes, budgets, production goals, and quality standards.
• Train and guide team members in landscape practices, equipment operation, safety, and company procedures.
• Communicate personnel, performance, equipment, and job‑site concerns to management.
• Help create a positive, professional, and team‑oriented work environment.

Enhancement and Installation Work

• Complete residential landscape enhancements, including planting, mulching, edging, pruning, corrective pruning, overseeding, sod installation, and small-scale landscape construction.
• Repair, replace, or clean patios and other installed landscape or hardscape elements.
• Replace dead or damaged plant material and report probable causes of decline.
• Repair or replace low‑voltage landscape lighting.
• Service garden ponds and perform minor irrigation repairs.
• Identify opportunities to improve client properties and communicate recommendations to management.
• Apply chemicals under the direction of a licensed applicator and according to company procedures.

Driving and Equipment

• Safely operate company trucks and truck/trailer combinations.
• Complete daily vehicle, trailer, and equipment inspections.
• Properly load, secure, transport, and care for equipment and materials.
• Safely operate commercial‑grade equipment, including mini excavators, skid steers, stand‑on skid steers, tillers, sod cutters, string trimmers, mowers, plant augers, chainsaws, hand tools, and other assigned equipment.
• Maintain clean and organized vehicles, trailers, equipment, and jobsites.
• Notify the mechanic or management promptly about damage, malfunctions, or repair needs.

Client Communication and Documentation

• Interact professionally with clients and provide a positive client experience.
• Address routine client questions and communicate concerns or requests to management.
• Complete mobile time tracking, material allocation, paperwork, inspections, and reports accurately and on time.

Winter Operations

• Participate in snow‑removal operations during the winter months.
• Safely operate assigned snow‑removal equipment.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Ohio driver’s license required
• Driving record acceptable under company insurance requirements
• At least two years of professional residential landscape‑enhancement experience
• Experience working independently and leading a small landscape‑enhancement team
• Working knowledge of horticultural practices, including planting, pruning, corrective pruning, weed identification and control, and fertilization
• Working knowledge of hardscape practices, including paver installation and repair, ponds, low‑voltage lighting, and irrigation troubleshooting
• Experience driving non‑CDL vehicles, including dump trucks and truck/trailer combinations
• Ability to understand written work instructions and complete required documentation
• Strong communication, organization, job‑planning, and time‑management skills
• Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications

• Two‑or four‑year degree in horticulture, landscape construction, or a related field preferred, but not required
• Experience with route planning and production management
• Experience operating mini excavators, skid steers, stand‑on skid steers, and other compact utility equipment
• Strong mechanical aptitude and equipment‑troubleshooting skills
• Ohio pesticide applicator license or willingness to obtain one

Physical and Work Requirements
