Job description

Dune Hai is a Bay Area based landscape architecture studio that designs unique gardens for artistically driven residential, commercial and educational spaces in California. We are looking for a new junior‑to‑mid level designer interested in joining our team and collaborating to make thoughtful spaces while participating in the facets of running a well‑oiled business. The candidate will have had experience working in a collaborative team and confidence in their abilities to contribute to the success of projects. This is a full‑time position. Responsibilities
  • Site Survey: Analyze a project site for qualities and exposure, take accurate measurements and translate that field work into an existing site survey
  • Concept Design: Tap into your creativity to devise quick sketchy concepts through hand sketches and precedent imagery and do design charrettes with a team. Be always searching and up to date on latest design trends and old garden trends that could be revived or reinvented! Put together client presentations with sketches and rendered site plans of concept designs.
  • Design Documentation: Put together client presentations with iterations and site specific thoughts and information. Edit details, draft plans, research codes. Follow guidelines on how to develop full project construction sets
  • Construction Administration: project coordination and communication. Take site photos and create site reports and meeting notes.
  • Attend meetings and send out minutes to clients or collaborators
  • Be nimble and organized and be able to work on an array of projects in different phases
Other Expectations
  • Accuracy in following instructions and how many times information or edits need to be repeated
  • Accuracy of protocols and systems being followed
  • Organization of work and graphic clarity for construction documentation and client presentations
  • Organization of research for each project and following protocols for cataloging
  • Creative interest and how often new ideas are being shared that link landscape with design, art, history, fashion, culture and other visual art forms.
  • Keeping track of project correspondence and timelines by taking notes, adding to calendars and checking in with managers on upcoming deadlines and pending work that needs to be completed
  • Resourcefulness in doing quick research to answer their own questions and knowing when to check in with managers
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture as minimum education level
  • Candidates will have 1-4 years work experience in a landscape arch firm in the U.S.
  • A CV and portfolio highlighting drafting and detailing in Design Development and Construction Documentation, Concept Design drawings and presentation graphics and diagrams
  • Proficiency in drafting, detailing, hand sketching, 3D modeling, design presentations and experience on construction documents
  • Good communication, attention to details, time management
  • A working knowledge of plants suited for California
  • Proficiency with AutoCad, Sketchup, AI tools
  • Own a vehicle and able to travel to local sites
  • Candidates must be authorized to work for an employer in the United States
  • Candidates local to the SF Bay Area will be considered
