Job description

We're Hiring! Join our Design/Build Team as a Designer

Are you passionate about transforming creative concepts into breathtaking outdoor realities? Do you thrive at the intersection of aesthetics and practicality?

Design isn't just what you do... it's how you think.

At Landscape Management Group, we're building one of the fastest-growing design/build companies in the Midwest, and we're looking for someone who gets excited about turning big ideas into incredible outdoor spaces.

You'll collaborate with an ambitious team, work directly with homeowners, see your designs built in real life, and help shape a company that's just getting started. We're building a company that people are proud to be part of. One that invests in great people, embraces technology, values creativity, and believes work should actually be fun.

Our vision is bold: to become one of the premier outdoor living companies in the country. If that excites you, you'll fit right in.

We are looking for a creative, detail-oriented Designer to join our Design/Build Division! In this hybrid role, you will be a vital creative force - developing holistic designs, construction-ready plans, and running live client presentations to help bring their vision to life.

Location: Hybrid (2 Days In / 3 Days Out + Field/Client Site Visits) Employment Type: Full-Time, Salaried

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Design & Present (Bring Outdoor Dreams to Life): Create stunning 3D designs that homeowners can't wait to build. Work alongside our sales team to present your ideas and help clients confidently move forward.
  • Draft & Develop (Turn Great Ideas Into Buildable Plans): Develop construction drawings, permit plans, and site layouts that transform creative concepts into projects our field teams can execute with confidence.
  • Estimate & Validate: Support the sales team by generating quantity takeoffs, measuring from plans, and validating scope accuracy.
  • Create & Collaborate: Occasionally lend your eye for design to internal marketing projects like presentation decks, signage, and brand assets.
  • Organize & Archive: Maintain a clean, systematic digital record of all project files, design versions, and final deliverables.
What You Bring to the Table:
  • Experience: 2+ years of design experience in landscaping, architecture, or outdoor environments.
  • Technical Chops: Proficiency in CAD and/or landscape design platforms (e.g., SketchUp, AutoCAD, Rhino, Realtime Landscape Architect).
  • Communication: Strong visual and verbal presentation skills. You know how to take feedback and adapt quickly!
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience developing construction drawings and permitting documentation.
  • Drive: Exceptional creative problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects on tight timelines.
What Success Looks Like
  • Design projects homeowners genuinely get excited about.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Operations to create seamless client experiences.
  • Produce accurate construction and permit plans.
  • Continuously improve your design skills and contribute new ideas.
  • Help us raise the bar for what great outdoor design looks like.
Why Join Us?

You’ll see your work come to life. There's something incredibly rewarding about driving past a project and knowing, "I designed that."

At LMG, your ideas don't sit in a folder-they become real outdoor spaces where families gather for years to come. You’ll join a young, driven team that's constantly improving, embraces new technology, and genuinely enjoys working together. We challenge each other, celebrate wins, and believe great people deserve opportunities to grow.

As our company grows, so will your opportunities. New leadership roles, expanded responsibilities, and the chance to help shape the future of our Design Division are all on the table.

If you're looking for "just another drafting job," this probably isn't it.

If you want to build incredible spaces while helping build an incredible company, we'd love to meet you.
