The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Landscape Designer to join our Design Studio team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new chapter in our company, where design innovation meets hands-on plant expertise. You’ll collaborate closely with clients, our installation crews, and fellow designers to bring thoughtful, inspired, and ecologically responsible landscapes to life.

Responsibilities
  • Work directly with clients to understand their vision, needs, and lifestyle.
  • Develop creative and functional landscape designs, from conceptual sketches to detailed plans.
  • Specify plant palettes with a focus on native and adapted Texas species.
  • Produce scaled drawings, 3D renderings, and construction documents.
  • Collaborate with project managers, installers, and fabricators to ensure seamless execution.
  • Manage projects from design through completion, balancing timelines, budgets, and quality.
  • Stay engaged with current design trends, sustainable practices, and innovative materials.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, Horticulture, or related field.
  • 3–5 years professional experience in residential or commercial landscape design.
  • Strong plant knowledge, particularly of native and adapted species.
  • Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A collaborative, creative spirit aligned with Barton Springs Nursery’s culture.
