At Tree Trust, we focus on transforming lives and landscapes through three divisions: Career Pathways, Community Forestry, and Landscape Services.

This position is located in our Landscape Services division, which offers professional tree care and landscaping services at market rates. The profits support our Career Pathways program (training youth and young adults for family-supporting, skilled green careers) and Community Forestry (urban tree canopy expansion through volunteer plantings and forestry initiatives).

The Landscape Construction Specialist assists with daily operations involving commercial and residential landscape construction, quality control, and safety. Projects include plantings, landscape bed enhancements, patio paver installs, retaining wall construction, accessibility ramp construction, etc. This role also involves snow removal and support for Lawn and Tree Care departments as needed.

What You Will Do:

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in installing hardscape, softscape, grading, excavating, carpentry, and other landscape projects.
  • Assist with general tree care (pruning, removal, vegetation management) in winter.
  • Support snow removal operations, including operating trucks, skid steers, and snowblowers.
  • Help prepare jobsites by loading tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Organize worksites for efficiency and safety, following all safety policies.
  • Maintain grounds and equipment, keeping the workspace clean and organized.
  • Adhere strictly to safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in training sessions on safety, equipment, and techniques.
  • Represent the company professionally, maintaining integrity and professionalism.
  • Keep job sites safe and clean.
  • Care for personal and company equipment and vehicles.
  • Work as part of a team, following directions.
  • Meet project deadlines without compromising customer service or quality.
  • Keep accurate timesheets and submit them on time.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by managers.

Qualifications/Skills Required:

  • Must be 18+ with a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • At least 2 years of experience in installing patios, retaining walls, plants, edging, sod, etc., or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience operating front loaders and excavators, or similar equipment.
  • Pass a criminal background and motor vehicle check.
  • Obtain MN DOT medical certificate within 15 days of hire.
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, team player.
  • Ability to follow directions, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Teachable, proactive, and solutions-oriented.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Reliable, positive, and able to work independently.
  • Willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Punctual and dependable with a can-do attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse backgrounds and skill levels.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Knowledge of horticultural practices.
  • Experience with hardscape installations like patios and retaining walls.
  • Skill in operating small electric and gas tools; heavy equipment experience preferred.
  • Pesticide license preferred.

Work Environment: Outdoors in all weather, exposure to noise and machinery, electrical hazards, and tools used in construction.

Physical Demands: Constant movement, walking, stooping, kneeling, lifting up to 50 lbs, and operating machinery. Good vision and communication required.
