Landscape Construction Laborers & Foremen

Job Description – Landscape Construction Laborer & Foreman

• Must be 18 or over
• On‑the‑job training is provided
• Physical Requirement: Lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to use body for performing all landscape maintenance tasks
• Desired: Work experience of any length in a similar position
• Insurable CA driver’s license a plus

Essential Functions

Foreman

• Minimum 3 years proven experience leading landscape enhancement jobs

Laborers

• Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pick axes, saws, wheelbarrows, weed whips
• Operate vehicles or powered equipment such as sod cutters, pruning saws, chainsaws, jack hammers, bobcat
• Enhance established landscape by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch; install irrigation, walls, trees, plants, cobbles, and rock
• Attach wires from planted trees to support stakes
• Plant foliage, flowering plants, grass, ground covers, trees, or shrubs and apply mulch for protection, using tools
• Rake mulch, soil, and compost
• Decorate gardens with stones or plants; use irrigation methods to adjust water consumption and prevent waste
• Provide, repair, or improve upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, burial sites, or other ground features
• Haul or spread topsoil or spread straw over seeded soil to hold soil in place
• Install new irrigation systems including controllers, valves, wiring, and pipes
