Job summary

Steadfast Landscaping in Palmetto, FL is hiring a Landscape Laborer to join our outdoor-focused team. This full-time role supports the mechanics by assisting with diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of mowers, trimmers, blowers, and related equipment.

Starting pay is $17.00–$21.00 per hour, based on experience. You will help with routine services, keep maintenance logs, load and transport gear, and assist field crews while following safety rules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Basic mechanical knowledge with small engines or lawn equipment.
• Willingness to learn mechanical repair and troubleshooting skills.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining landscaping equipment.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance such as oil changes and blade sharpening.
• Clean and organize tools, parts, and shop workspace.
• Load, unload, and transport equipment.
• Assist with equipment inspections and safety checks before and after use.
• Identify potential mechanical issues and report findings to the lead Mechanic.
• Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
• Maintain maintenance logs and assist with parts inventory.
• Support field crews with minor mechanical troubleshooting when needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Position: Landscape Laborer

Job Summary:

The Landscape Mechanic Assistant supports the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of landscaping equipment and small engines to ensure safe and efficient operation. This role assists the Mechanic with routine inspections, preventative maintenance, repairs, and organization of tools and shop areas.

Job Duties:

• Assist in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining landscaping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, skid steers, and vehicles
• Perform routine preventative maintenance such as oil changes, blade sharpening, filter replacement, lubrication, and belt inspections
• Clean, organize, and maintain tools, parts, and shop workspace
• Load, unload, and transport equipment as needed
• Assist with equipment inspections and safety checks before and after use
• Identify potential mechanical issues and report findings to the lead Mechanic
• Follow all safety procedures and company policies
• Maintain maintenance logs and assist with parts inventory
• Support field crews with minor mechanical troubleshooting when needed
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50–75 pounds
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work outdoors for extended periods
• Ability to work in various weather conditions
• Manual dexterity for handling tools and equipment
