Job summary

Qualifications

  • Understanding of landscaping, turf maintenance, plant materials, and sitework.
  • Computer skills; CAD experience a plus.
  • Strong communication skills with clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed landscape design plans including planting, grading layouts, hardscape elements, water features, lighting, and irrigation tailored to client needs.
  • Collaborate with clients, architects, and contractors throughout the design process to ensure goals, timelines, and budgets are met.
  • Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies considering environmental sensitivity, soil conditions, and local vegetation.
  • Oversee design implementation in the field, coordinating with installation and maintenance teams to ensure quality and adherence to specifications.

Our client is a high-growth, premier professional landscaping company based in Highlands, North Carolina, serving the Highlands-Cashiers area for nearly 20 years. They offer a comprehensive range of services including landscape design, installation, maintenance, irrigation systems, water features, hardscapes, lighting, and turf and ornamental care; all delivered with a commitment to efficiency, safety, and environmental sensitivity.

The Position

The Landscape Architect will play a key creative and technical role within the organization, responsible for developing innovative and sustainable landscape designs for commercial and residential clients across the Highlands-Cashiers area.

Primary responsibilities include:
  • Develop detailed landscape design plans, including planting plans, grading layouts, hardscape elements, water features, lighting, and irrigation systems tailored to client needs and site conditions
  • Collaborate with clients, architects, and contractors throughout the design process to ensure alignment with project goals, timelines, and budgets
  • Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies to inform design decisions, considering environmental sensitivity, soil conditions, and local vegetation
  • Oversee design implementation in the field, coordinating with installation and maintenance teams to ensure designs are executed to specification and quality standards
Qualifications and Candidate Background

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study and/or relevant training or certifications as a Landscape Designer / Architect
  • A clear understanding of different aspects of landscaping, turf maintenance, plant materials, and sitework
  • Computer skills; CAD experience a plus!
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with clients and other key stakeholders
Location
