Job summary

DAS Aviation is seeking a Lead Landing Gear Technician to provide day-to-day leadership to a team of technicians, ensuring all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company procedures and FAA regulations.

You will coordinate daily workflow, maintain quality standards, support employee development, and report to the Team Lead while guiding multiple projects to timely RTS authorization and completion.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of landing gear maintenance experience.
• Strong knowledge of FAA paperwork and work orders.
• Ability to read SRMs, CMMs, and engineering blueprints.
• Basic English communication required.

Responsibilities

What you can expect as a Lead Landing Gear Technician at DAS Aviation:

As a Crew Lead, your primary responsibility is to provide day-to-day leadership to a team of technicians while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company procedures, customer requirements, and FAA regulations. You will coordinate daily workflow, maintain quality standards, support employee development, and serve as the primary point of contact for your team while reporting directly to the Team Lead.

You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including:

• Lead and coordinate the daily activities of assigned technicians to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
• Assign and prioritize daily workload to meet production goals and customer commitments.
• Exercise sound judgment in managing day-to-day operations and elevate issues to the Team Lead as needed.
• Supervise technicians in their daily workload and provide technical guidance and support.
• Conduct in-process inspections and review completed work for quality, accuracy, and compliance with company procedures.
• Prepare completed work and documentation for final inspection and Return-to-Service (RTS) authorization by the Team Lead.
• Oversee work order flow and documentation to ensure timely completion of assigned projects.
• Train, mentor, and develop technicians to improve technical skills and support future growth of the team.
• Communicate project status, production concerns, and shift turnover information effectively with the Team Lead and other departments.
• Effectively communicate (speak, read, and write) in English.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Team Lead, Supervisor, or Management.

What you’ll need to bring with you:

Your Education

• A High school diploma or equivalent.
• A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.
• An A&P license is helpful but not required.

Your Experience

• 5+ years prior experience in landing gear maintenance.
• An advanced knowledge of FAA paperwork, work orders, and use of Corridor systems is preferred.
• Strong technical proficiency in reading and interpreting structural repair manuals (SRMs), component maintenance manuals (CMMs), and engineering blueprints.

Your Initiative:

Your Sense of Responsibility:

• Attend work every day as scheduled to include overtime and weekend assignments.
• Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.
• Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day.
• Must perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
• Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
• Maintain customer-oriented work habits.
• Direct the work and flow of multiple projects.
• Supervision of team members in daily operations and duties.
• Completion of work orders, FAA paperwork.

Other Particulars:

Physical Requirements

• Lift at least 50 lbs.
• Routine walking, bending, and squatting or sitting.
• Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.
• Personal computer operations on Apple and Microsoft products especially Outlook, Word, and Excel spreadsheets.

Mental Requirements

• Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines.
• Critical thinking of advanced composite repairs.

Working Conditions

• The majority of work will be accomplished in a shop environment which can include very hot or very cold temperatures.
• Work outside during onsite work.
• Varied positions in and around the aircraft.

• Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.
• Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment.
• Personal computer and work order prints.

Compensation and Benefits Information:

The following information is disclosed according to state specific requirements. If the position applied to is not in a state with these requirements, the following information may not apply. The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $36-$40. Actual hourly rate will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience and performance. Additional compensation in the form of a shift differential will be provided if the employee is assigned to an alternate shift. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package. Other forms of compensation include a semi-annual discretionary bonus, 401(k) company match, and employer contribution to a Health Savings Account (HSA).
