Job summary

WM (Waste Management) in United States, Iowa – Lake Mills is hiring for a landfill technician responsible for the proper disposal of solid waste materials at our landfill site. The role involves operating heavy equipment, directing traffic to dumping areas, and ensuring compliance with government regulations to prevent hazardous disposal.

Qualifications

• No experience (0–4 years) prior experience recommended.

Responsibilities

• Operates heavy equipment such as bulldozer, front-end loader, and compactor to excavate landfill site and manage waste cover.
• Directs incoming vehicles to dumping area.
• Examines cargo to prohibit disposal of caustic waste according to regulations.
• Sprays poisons and other chemicals over waste to control disease-carrying pests.
• Drives truck to distribute oil or water over landfill to control dust.
• Weighs vehicles entering/leaving site and collects dumping fees.

Shift: Monday - Friday, Start time 6:30 am - 3:30 pm

Boot Allowance: $200 per year

Job Summary

Properly disposes of solid waste materials at landfill site.

• Operates heavy equipment such as bulldozer, front-end loader, and compactor, to excavate landfill site, transport solid waste materials, and to spread and compact layers of waste and earth cover.
• Directs incoming vehicles to dumping area.
• Examines cargo to prohibit disposal of caustic waste, according to government regulations.
• Sprays poisons and other specified chemicals over waste material to control disease carrying pests.
• Drives truck to distribute oil or water over landfill to control dust.
• Weighs vehicles entering and leaving site and collects dumping fees.
