Job summary

Waste Management in Sun Valley, California is seeking a landfill laborer to perform a variety of tasks at the site. The role involves manual cleanup, directing vehicle traffic, and operating equipment such as a vacuum tractor to collect debris and manage waste at the landfill perimeter.

Position is on-site with a base pay of $25.00 per hour. The duties include handling materials, safe operation of tools, and coordination with drivers to maintain smooth landfill operations.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in a landfill environment.

Responsibilities

• Manually picks up windblown paper along the landfill periphery and directs traffic at the entrance when busy.
• Operates a tractor with vacuum to collect loose paper and debris along the border and exterior areas.
• Directs truck traffic at peak times using verbal or hand signals.
• Handles construction materials and uses hand tools (shovels, picks, axes, chainsaws) as needed.
• Separates metal, white goods, lumber and cardboard from trash on the tipping floor.
