Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in physical, environmental, or related sciences, engineering, geology, hydrology, or a related field.
• Two or more years of landfill operations, environmental regulations, and waste management service operations; valid non-commercial Class C license.
• Note: substitutions allowed for two years of experience in heavy civil earthwork construction management.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, and schedules activities for refuse disposal at the County landfill, including excavation, soil hauling, waste compaction, and recycling.
• Supervises employees and oversees contract performance for various heavy equipment operations.
• Directs layout and fill sequence of subcells and maintains sediment/erosion controls and access roads.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and county laws and permits, including cover, records, and reporting.
• Administers contracts and budgets; drafts procedures to maintain safe, customer-friendly operations.
