Job description

Waste Pro of Louisiana - KV Landfill (KVL)

Summary of Position: The Landfill Spotter is responsible for ensuring proper placement and sorting of materials and guiding customers safely in the landfill.

Essential Job Functions:
  1. Inspect materials and sort items or materials into piles prepping for the Equipment Operator.
  2. Direct customers where to safely dump their debris at the landfill.
  3. Pull metal and lead items from piles being disposed.
  4. Monitor piles to ensure they are the appropriate size.
  5. Remove items that can be recycled and are not acceptable for disposal at the landfill.
  6. Follow appropriate standard operating procedures (SOPs) as guidelines for operating and maintaining equipment.
  7. Report any worker-public safety concerns.
  8. Attend weekly/monthly safety and operations meetings.
Other Job Responsibilities:
  • Attend and participate in corporation-sponsored training courses as assigned.
  • Stay updated on current technology used by Waste Pro that is relevant to the job.
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to follow safe operating practices.
  • Ability to learn and demonstrate good customer service skills.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand reports to complete daily assignments.
Special Considerations / Physical Work Requirements:
  • Push, pull, drag, and lift items up to 50 pounds, climb steps, and reach overhead.
  • Perform walking, jogging, twisting, crouching, and lifting.
  • Maintain sufficient stamina for a steady work pace throughout the day.
  • Use all Personal Protective Equipment as mandated by the company.
Work Environment:

Work in various environmental conditions, including temperature extremes, wind, noise, vibrations, fumes, odors, and dust.
