Job summary

The City of Laredo seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator to manage residential and commercial waste at the landfill, operating dozer, grader, excavator, loader and trucks per the site plan.

You will drive city vehicles, ensure safe operation, perform routine maintenance, and follow routes and schedules while upholding safety standards and city policies.

This role requires five years of experience, valid Texas CDL, and the ability to work outdoors in varied conditions.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of experience operating heavy equipment.
• Valid Texas CDL class A or B Driver License with satisfactory MVR.
• Background check and certified transcripts required for employment.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment safely and proficiently for waste disposal.
• Operate side-loading packer truck collecting solid waste on designated routes.
• Use hydraulic arms to lift containers and hydraulic rams to compact refuse.
• Identify and report improper equipment performance and adjust as needed.
• Drive City vehicles for City business as required.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
