Job summary

SPSA is seeking a Solid Waste Assistant to help manage landfill operations, safety, and traffic flow. The role involves outdoor grounds maintenance, dust and odor control, and basic custodial tasks in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities include operating light and heavy equipment, performing routine manual labor, and supporting shift work at various locations. A valid driver's license and post‑employment training are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of manual labor experience; six months in heavy industrial environment preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record to operate SPSA vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Performs grounds and facilities cleaning and maintenance. 80%
• Training on and operating light and heavy equipment 20%
• Supports the operations, safety, and traffic flow of the Landfill.
• Performs routine light or heavy manual labor with tools and equipment.
• Removes snow from roads and spreads sand on icy surfaces.
• Cleans gutters, culverts, catch basins, and other drainage structures.
