Chaffee County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Landfill Equipment Operator to support daily landfill operations, operate heavy equipment, and assist with site maintenance and customer service. The role involves outdoor work in varying conditions on a Wednesday–Saturday schedule of four 10.5‑hour days, with a meal break.

A high school diploma and a valid driver's license with a good driving record are required.

Landfill Equipment Operator

Chaffee County seeks a dependable and safety-minded Equipment Operator to support daily Landfill operations through heavy equipment operation, site maintenance, scale house support, and customer service. The qualified candidate works well within a structured environment, follows standard operating procedures, cooperates effectively with team members, and takes pride in consistent, hands‑on work. This position includes outdoor work in varying conditions as part of regular operations and works a Wednesday-Saturday schedule consisting of four 10.5-hour workdays, including a meal break. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record. 1+ years of experience operating heavy equipment and hand and power tools preferred.

This is a full-time, non-exempt, hourly position with a wage range of $23.43 to $28.71.
