Job summary

The Troy/Maryville/St. Jacob/Marine Chamber of Commerce seeks a Land Surveyor III to perform in-office and field tasks on surveying projects.

Key duties include consulting with clients; preparing proposals and contracts; guiding field crews and technicians; overseeing survey aspects of civil engineering projects; preparing survey plans and flood elevation certificates; deed and plan research, and fieldwork.

Qualifications

• Fluent English with reading, writing and speaking skills; proficient with Office tools.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and MS Office Suite.
• Ability to use Trimble equipment and Business Center software; data analysis capability.
• Effective communication is essential; five years surveying experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Consult with clients; prepare proposals and contracts; guide field crews and technicians.
• Oversee survey aspects of civil engineering projects; prepare survey plans and certs.
• Prepare flood elevation certificates; deed and plan research; perform fieldwork and computations.
• Ensure timely, accurate deliverables; maintain filing systems and support billing.

Position Summary

Performs a variety of in-office and field tasks associated with land surveying projects obtained by the company.

Primary Position Duties

• Duties include: consulting with clients; preparing proposals and contracts; providing guidance and direction to field crew(s); providing guidance and direction to engineering and surveying technicians; overseeing survey aspects of civil engineering projects; overseeing and/or directing preparation of all types of survey plans; preparing flood elevation certificates; deed and plan research and review; fieldwork associated with land surveying, engineering, and construction projects; survey computations and data collection; computer-aided design and drafting
• Ensure the preparation of accurate, complete, and value-added work products and perform survey computations; ensure timely document delivery; and deliver profitable projects
• Consistently meet and exceed client expectations by ensuring accurate, complete and timely communication of information to and from clients and firm staff; perform quality control review of design plans; create and maintain filing system on survey projects; and perform billing functions; monitor opportunities to provide extra services
• Must be competent in the knowledge of/and be able to perform the following: analyze survey control, boundary, and topographical surveying utilizing GPS and conventional survey methods; preparation of ALTA surveys; assume duties of Department Manager in his/her absence
• Participates in project team meetings and follows procedures outlined in Project Management Standards manual

Position Requirements

• Fluent English with reading, written and verbal communication skills, Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office Suite including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams and other video conferencing software.
• Ability to use Trimble Surveying Equipment and Business Center software or similar equipment/software.
• Ability to collect and analyze data, apply problem solving skills to specific design tasks, develop creative solutions, work alone or as part of a project team, and demonstrate attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills are essential for this position.

Education or Skills

Required

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Surveying or equivalent
• Professional Land Surveyor License, active and in good standing
• Current Driver’s License

Preferred

• Minimum of five (5) years surveying experience
