This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified candidates to fill the immediate and future vacancies located at the Oahu District Office, Department of Transportation, Highways Division.

Salary: $4,495 to $5,472 per month (SR-18, Step D to I).

Note: Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Provides land survey support for highway construction projects and highway special maintenance projects.
  2. Serves as instrumentman on a variety of surveys such as preliminary, topographic, construction or boundary surveys, using a transit, level, theodolite, and/or other survey instruments.
  3. Reduces and plots field notes and performs related computations.
  4. May serve as chief-of-party on routine surveys.
  5. Compiles data pertaining to surveys from maps, deeds, land titles, metes and bounds descriptions or other sources.
  6. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Basic Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a major in land surveying, geo-science, or engineering.
  2. License: A valid license to drive in the State of Hawaii is required, at the time of appointment.
  3. Lifting: This position requires the ability to lift and carry items of up to 50 lbs unassisted and 125 lbs assisted.
  4. Substitutions Allowed: Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements may apply.
