A Land Surveying Party Chief is responsible for leading a surveying crew in field operations. Qualifications typically include a combination of education, experience, and technical skills. Here's a breakdown of the common qualifications:

1. Education & Certification:
  1. High School Diploma or GED (minimum requirement).
  2. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering, or a related field (but not always required).
  3. Surveyor-in-Training (SIT) or LSIT Certification (in some states).
  4. Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) License (may be required for senior roles or advancement).
2. Experience:
  1. Typically 3-5 years of experience as a survey crew member (e.g., rodman, instrument operator, or crew chief).
  2. Experience in boundary, topographic, construction, and control surveys is often required.
3. Technical Skills:
  1. Proficiency in GPS, total stations, levels, and data collectors.
  2. Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS software, and survey-related software.
  3. Knowledge of land-survey principles, legal descriptions, and boundary law.
  4. Ability to interpret construction plans, maps, and engineering drawings.
4. Leadership & Physical Requirements:
