Job summary

Farnsworth Group, a nationally recognized architectural engineering and surveying firm, seeks a Land Surveying Manager in Colorado Springs to lead proposals, planning, staffing and project execution for your section.

You will manage large projects, ensure quality, contribute to budgets and client relations, and mentor staff while driving business development and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Professional Land Surveyor's License required (PLS, RLS, LS).
• Bachelor's or Associate's Degree / Land Surveying certificate preferred.
• Ability to develop business and maintain client relationships.
• AutoCAD C3D, MicroStation ORD to produce client deliverables.
• Working knowledge of Trimble field equipment and Trimble Business Center.
• Apply current and new technology to develop projects.
• Support safety-oriented culture.
• Experience with MS Office (Word & Excel).
• Project management and client invoicing experience.
• Mentor/mentee teamwork.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Valid US driver’s license; ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review RFQ, SOQ, and cost/fee proposals with clients and internal personnel and determine resource allocation, schedule, and project feasibility.
• Distribute work assignments and utilize CAD platforms to satisfy client deliverables.
• Ensure the quality, accuracy, and completeness of project work according to policy, industry best practices, statutes, and client requirements.
• Manage personnel functions such as hiring, performance reviews, salary recommendations, staff training, and employee development.
• Analyze the department's fiscal needs, including staffing and equipment; help develop yearly budgets and reconcile funds.
• Help develop and maintain policies, procedures, and standards for field and office.
• Visit project sites as needed to meet clients and monitor surveying progress.
• Set up contracts, monitor budgets, anticipate risk, and discuss tendencies with manager.
• Participate in weekly meetings covering workload, schedule, and personnel.
• Serve as the licensed surveyor in charge of assigned projects.
• Participate in business development activities and actively network with clients and professional associations.
• Produce complete and accurate surveys to aid the company's success.
• Other duties, as assigned.

Job description

Farnsworth Group is seeking a Land Surveying Manager to join our team. In this role, you will actively manage day-to-day business activities, including proposals, planning, staffing, and project execution for your section. You will be responsible for multiple large, complex projects, including cost estimation, work assignments, deadlines, and quality control. This position has significant client contact and financial responsibility.

What You’ll Do:

• Distribute work assignments and utilize CAD platforms to satisfy client deliverables.

What You’ll Need:

Nice To Haves :

• 12+ years surveying experience (4 years as a licensed professional surveyor).
• Desire to sit for Professional Land Surveyor's exam in neighboring states.
• Experience with Aerial Drone and 3D Point Cloud scanning technology.
• Experience with surveying control networks, the PLSS system, and QA/QC procedures.
• History of supervising, managing, and training field & office technicians.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

• Primarily an office position, with the ability to work outside on projects if needed.
• Requires the ability to work on multi-disciplinary projects simultaneously.
• Ability to use a computer and work in an office environment.
• Make suggestions and undertake company-mandated training to increase skills and ability.
• Comfortable signing drawings & responsibly serving in charge of projects.

Compensation to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, as well as internal and external equity.
