Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Land Survey Intern to join our surveying team in Virginia.

You will support boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and construction staking surveys for residential and commercial development projects while learning to operate survey equipment under licensed Professional Land Surveyors. You will gain hands-on experience with field data collection, deed research, and the preparation of plats and legal descriptions, assisting in various tasks and site

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Willingness to learn in a flexible, cross-disciplinary work environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Assist field survey crews with boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and construction staking surveys for land development projects.
• Operate robotic total stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, and other surveying instruments under supervision.
• Perform deed and record research to support boundary retracement and title review.
• Assist in processing field data and preparing survey drawings, plats, and exhibits using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Support preparation of legal descriptions, easement exhibits, and subdivision plats for review by licensed surveyors.
• Travel to project sites to collect field data and coordinate with survey crews, contractors, and clients.
