Job summary

BL Companies is seeking an experienced Crew Chief in Charlotte, NC. The role oversees field operations, ensures project specifications and safety standards are met, and utilizes Leica surveying equipment and Carlson GPS for data collection.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in land surveying, proficiency with Leica tools, strong problem‑solving skills, and a valid driver’s license with willingness to travel to project sites.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of progressive experience in land surveying.
• Proficiency with Leica equipment and Carlson software.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise one or more field survey team members.
• Perform boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS Land Title, construction layout and as‑built surveys.
• Collect, process and verify field data for accuracy.
• Prepare field notes, sketches and daily photos for projects.
• Establish horizontal and vertical control networks.
• Ensure survey work complies with standards and state requirements.
• Maintain survey equipment and calibration as required.
• Mentor junior staff and monitor crew productivity.
