Job summary

raSmith is seeking a Land Survey CAD Technician to join our Survey Services division. You will review project files, analyze field notes, and prepare survey documents such as ALTA/NSPS surveys and plats, while learning how surveying integrates into broader project plans.

Ideal candidates have 0–3+ years of experience, an associate or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field, and proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil3D, and MS Office.

Qualifications

• An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
• 0-3+ years of experience in land surveying or related work.
• Knowledge of surveying methods, practices, and legal aspects is required.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil3D and MS Office is expected.

Responsibilities

• Review project files and materials to carry out drafting tasks.
• Analyze field notes, legal descriptions, title easements and design plans.
• Prepare survey documents including ALTA/NSPS surveys and plats.
• Develop understanding of surveying concepts and project integration.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Land Survey CAD Technician – Primary Responsibilities:

• Reviewing assigned project files for necessary materials and information to carry out project scope and drafting tasks.
• Providing thorough analysis of field notes, legal descriptions, title easements, design plans, utility plans and construction layout notes.
• Preparing survey documents including ALTA/NSPS Land Title Survey, Plat of Survey, Certified Survey Maps, topographic maps, Transportation Plats, Condominium Plats, Subdivision Plats, legal descriptions and other survey exhibits.
• Developing an understanding of surveying concepts, our company business and how surveying is integrated into plans and projects.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Land Survey CAD Technician – Skills and Requirements:

• An Associate’s Degree in a related field or a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from a U.S. accredited school.
• 0-3+ years of experience.
• Knowledge of surveying methods, practices and techniques as well as the legal aspects of surveying are required.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil3D and Microsoft Office products is also expected.
• Applicable U.S. based work experience.
