Land Protection & Stewardship Coordinator

Title: Land Protection & Stewardship Coordinator

Reports to: VP for Land Conservation

Hourly Rate: $23.00/hour

Hours per week: 30

Based at the Conservation Center in Concord, New Hampshire.

The Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests seeks a self-motivated individual for the position of Land Protection & Stewardship Coordinator.

The Land Protection & Stewardship Coordinator supports both the Land Protection and Easement Stewardship Departments by providing administrative support for the protection of new fee and conservation easement properties and the ongoing stewardship of conservation easements. The coordinator is responsible for recordkeeping, data entry, and research needed to support the departments and maintain accreditation standards. This position is vital to ensuring the programs meet the requirements of the Land Trust Alliance Standards and Practices and the criteria for continued Accreditation from the Land Trust Accreditation Commission.

Position Summary: The coordinator supports the work of both departments through administrative tasks, recordkeeping, data management, and research, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards. The position is based at the Conservation Center in Concord, NH.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide administrative support to the Stewardship and Land Conservation teams, participating fully with both Departments and taking on specific assignments as needed.
  2. Maintain sound paper, electronic, and digital project records; assist with organizing, maintaining, and closing land conservation and stewardship project files, in accordance with policies, standards, and practices.
  3. Conduct data entry into LOCATE, ensuring accuracy and up-to-date information.
  4. Assist with creating and running reports to support the teams.
  5. Handle monitoring reports for lands with an Executory Interest and report to relevant organizations and agencies.
  6. Assist with administration of regional conservation plans.
  7. Gather data, documents, and research specific questions, including County Registries of Deeds.
  8. Prepare annual reports and newsletters related to easement stewardship.
  9. Respond to general inquiries via email and phone, assisting the public.
  10. Assist with scheduling meetings, preparing materials, and taking minutes for Land Protection Committee meetings.
  11. Coordinate landowner mailing reports and other administrative tasks as needed.
  12. Provide information to other departments, such as finance and communications, as required.
  13. Support other organizational tasks to advance the mission.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of administrative experience.
  • Proficiency in clerical procedures, recordkeeping, and systems.
  • Experience with Internet, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and online databases like LOCATE or Salesforce.
  • Strong multitasking, attention to detail, and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with good public interaction skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Reliable vehicle, driver’s license, and proof of insurance.

Working Conditions: The role is based in an environmentally sustainable office within walking distance of wooded trails. Occasional travel within NH to properties, town offices, or registries is required. Some weekend or evening work may occur a few times per year.

Physical Requirements: Work involves desk and computer station tasks in an office setting. Ability to travel within the state and lift up to 15 pounds.
