Marinette County Government is seeking a County Conservationist to lead the Land Information Department’s Land and Water Conservation Division. You will assist the Land Information Director by directing staff, administering conservation programs, and shaping policies and procedures to protect natural resources.
The role requires a bachelor’s degree in environmental science and at least two years of management experience in natural resources, with familiarity of Wisconsin statutes.
Assist Land Information Director with directing and supervising Land and Water Conservation Division staff; serve as administrator, in accordance with Chapter 92 Wisconsin State Statutes, for direction and assistance of county soil and water conservation programs; create and implement policies/procedures and develop programs to protect and sustain County’s natural resource base and obtain resources to support the LWCD; implement Marinette County Land & Water Management Plan.
Qualifications: Bachelors’ Degree in Environmental Science from accredited 4-year college with major casework in natural resource field of environmental science or a closely related field; 2 years practical work experience in management of natural resources or related field; working knowledge of applicable state statutes related to soil and water conservation, resource management programs, water pollution abatement practices and habitat protection techniques; insurance acceptable driver’s license; qualify under the WI Caregivers Law, WI Act 27.
