Job summary

J2 is seeking a Civil Engineer to lead the development of design and technical documents through all project phases in the United States. You will prepare rezoning applications, preliminary and site plans, and manage storm drainage, water, and sanitary sewer design, ensuring compliance with local standards.

You will QA/QC your work and mentor junior staff, using Civil 3D or AutoCAD (Carlson) to create technical documents.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in planning, design, and management of civil engineering projects.
• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering is required.
• Demonstrated teamwork, interpersonal, and project management skills.

Description

• Lead the development of design and technical documents through all phases of projects.
• Prepare, plan, and develop project design elements including, but not limited to:
• Rezoning & Entitlement Applications, Preliminary Plans, and Site & Subdivision Plans
• Open and closed storm drainage systems including stormwater management
• Water and Sanitary Sewer system design
• Compliance with zoning ordinances, proffers, and applicable facility standards
• Erosion and sediment control plans and design E&S control measures in accordance with state criteria
• Perform QA/QC of own work and the work of team members
• Utilize working knowledge of VDOT, state, and local standards, policies, and procedures
• Design and create technical documents in Civil 3D or in AutoCAD using Carlson Design Software
• Advance and lead planning studies, preliminary and final design plan production, and project permitting
• Train and mentor new and junior level staff members
• Remain current with Local, State, and Federal design standards and regulations to ensure compliance

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in all phases of services in planning, design, and management
• A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
• Exemplary teamwork, interpersonal, and project management skills
