Job summary

J2 is seeking a senior Civil Engineer to lead design development, prepare plans, and manage projects from concept to permitting in Arlington, VA. You will develop rezoning, site and subdivision plans, and storm drainage and water/sewer systems in Civil 3D or AutoCAD with Carlson Software.

Strong teamwork and mentoring of junior staff are essential. Applicants should have 5+ years of experience, a BS in Civil Engineering, and a proven ability to work with local and state standards, QA/QC, and

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in planning, design, and management.
• A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
• Exemplary teamwork, interpersonal, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of design and technical documents through all phases of projects.
• Prepare, plan, and develop project design elements including Rezoning, Entitlement Applications, Preliminary Plans, and Site & Subdivision Plans.
• Open and closed storm drainage systems including stormwater management.
• Water and Sanitary Sewer system design.
• Compliance with zoning ordinances, proffers, and applicable facility standards.
• Erosion and sediment control plans and design E&S control measures in accordance with state criteria.
• Perform QA/QC of own work and the work of team members.
• Utilize working knowledge of VDOT, state, and local standards, policies, and procedures.
• Design and create technical documents in Civil 3D or in AutoCAD using Carlson Design Software.
• Advance and lead planning studies, preliminary and final design plan production, and project permitting.
• Train and mentor new and junior level staff members.
• Remain current with Local, State, and Federal design standards and regulations to ensure compliance
