Job summary

Impact Recruitment is partnering with a civil engineering firm in the San Diego area to hire a Project Engineer who will support land development projects under a Project Manager, lead design tasks, and resolve technical issues with limited guidance.

The role emphasizes leadership growth, quality, collaboration, and timely communication, with responsibilities ranging from preparing grading and utility plans to generating reports and construction documents.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering from an accredited institution.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required.
• 4–6 years of land development experience, preferably in Southern California.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Bluebeam.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to support and train junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Prepare land development designs, including grading, utility, and subdivision plans.
• Coordinate with the reporting Project Manager to solve complex construction and design challenges.
• Proactively coordinate across teams and agencies.
• Develop and review engineering reports (e.g., hydrology, hydraulics, sewer studies).
• Create construction documents, exhibits, and constraint maps using field data and software tools.
• Coordinate with internal departments, sub consultants, and agencies regarding plan comments and design requirements.
• Analyze project feasibility by calculating earthwork and improvement quantities.
• Support team efficiency and project execution.
