Job summary

Vanasse Hangen Brustlin Inc. (VHB) seeks a Land Development Intern for Winter 2027 to support civil engineering projects in our Richmond/Williamsburg/Virginia Beach offices.

You will learn technical skills, perform calculations, contribute to preliminary and final design plans, and assist with construction documents while collaborating with engineers and clients in a flexible, hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering.
• Strong interest in civil engineering.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering calculations.
• Produce preliminary and final design plans.
• Prepare contract documents including specifications.

Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB's I-64 offices (Richmond, VA; Virginia Beach, VA; Williamsburg, VA) are seeking a Land Development Intern to join our team. Interns will work on civil engineering projects and will learn technical skills and computation software.

Responsibilities

• Effectively interact with numerous VHB staff, clients, and consultants to advance projects in a timely manner
• Engineering calculations
• Preliminary and final design plans
• Contract documents including specifications
• Engineer's estimates
• Preparing construction documents

Skills and Attributes

• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Self-motivated with attention to detail
• Ability to multitask
• Excels at working in a team environment

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering
• Strong interest in civil engineering

Hiring Salary Range: The estimated hiring salary range for this position is $19/hr - $26/hr. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
