Job description
In this position, the Land Development Engineer leads the technical design for an interdisciplinary team of civil engineers, project planners, and CAD designers.
This position reports directly to the Director of the Land Development Department.
Candidates should be engineers or designers with a high technical competency experienced in land development projects, sustainable design, utility design, and stormwater management design.
The ideal candidate is experienced with the unique requirements of design and permitting for development projects, including schools and other institutional projects, and commercial/retail projects.
Requirements
Experience: Civil engineering: 5 years (Required)
Minimum 3 years of design experience on land development projects
Proficiency with Civil 3D and Office 360 products (Excel, Word, etc.)
Typical Duties
Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
Leads a team in the preparation of project drawings, calculations, and specifications.
Prepares engineering analysis, design, calculations, and reports
Evaluates land use and zoning requirements and is familiar with zoning ordinances and site plan approval processes.
Prepares permit applications and is responsible for working through agency review processes and obtaining approvals.
Makes occasional site visits during the construction phase of the work to assess progress and quality of construction.
Works with dynamic design teams including the owner/developer, architects, landscape architects, engineering trades, and contractors.
Provides mentorship and training for junior staff
