Job summary

BKF is seeking a Design Engineer with a couple years of civil infrastructure design experience to join our collaborative onsite team in the California Bay Area. You will support Land Development projects, preparing designs from concept through construction documentation alongside seasoned engineers. Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and a California E.I.T.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 0–3 years of site development and design experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• EIT certification preferred.
• Familiarity with preparing documents, specifications, and design plans.
• Exposure to public agency standards and permitting processes.
• Ability to apply standard engineering techniques and judgment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design and development of site plans for residential, commercial, mixed-use, roadway, highway, and public works projects.
• Prepare grading and drainage plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Create designs for land development including potable water and wastewater systems.
• Participate in internal design reviews and contribute to scheduling and task prioritization.
• Support engineering reports, feasibility studies, and master planning documents.
• Develop technical specifications and detailed cost estimates to support proposals and construction documentation.
• Collaborate daily with project engineers and stakeholders to coordinate design efforts and meet milestones.
• Review plans and calculations for accuracy and constructability.
