Position Overview
STV is currently seeking a Land Development Civil Engineer for its Buildings group in Owings Mills, MD. This civil engineer of record handles high-profile projects such as Harborplace and the Baltimore Peninsula. The role collaborates on a wide variety of projects including conceptual master plans, schools, mixed‑use, office buildings, industrial buildings, housing/apartment projects, commercial buildings, and civil/site structures. The position offers early to mid‑career engineers an opportunity to work on high‑profile projects, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, gain hands‑on experience in grading, utilities, stormwater management, and permitting, and enhance design skills with mentorship and support from senior engineers.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare construction documents, permit packages, and support construction services.
- Utilize design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation; HydroCAD; Hydraflow Hydrographs and ArcGIS) to create construction drawings, layouts, and models for land development projects.
- Conduct site investigations and assessments to support design decisions.
- Develop sustainable and innovative solutions for site layouts, stormwater management, grading, utilities, and erosion/sediment control.
- Prepare design calculations, technical reports, and feasibility studies.
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies to secure permits and approvals.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other engineers to integrate site design with overall project goals.
- Participate in client meetings and presentations to discuss project requirements and progress.
- Support project managers by monitoring budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
- Stay current with industry trends, technology, and best practices to enhance project quality.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
- Professional Engineering License.
- 4+ years of experience in civil/site design, land development, or a related field.
- Familiarity with site development principles, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, and erosion/sediment control.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or MicroStation.
- ArcGIS and Hydraflow Hydrographs, HydroCAD experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to lead permitting processes in Maryland jurisdictions (Baltimore City experience a plus).
- Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to progress multiple projects simultaneously.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for client and team collaboration.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Compensation
$91,405.62 – $102,831.32
