D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently seeking an Accountant SR-WA. The ideal candidate will manage the Land Acquisition Department, overseeing the process of finding, contracting, obtaining governmental approval, and closing on land parcels that meet the division's needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Planning, directing, and coordinating all land acquisition activities.
  2. Negotiating property acquisitions with landowners, attorneys, or brokers.
  3. Managing due diligence on land opportunities, including initial master planning in collaboration with design and land development teams.
  4. Managing and coordinating resources to meet all entitlement needs for land acquisitions.
  5. Monitoring development phases and entitlement processes post-closing.
  6. Developing and controlling departmental overhead budgets.
  7. Building relationships within the business community and exploring avenues for potential acquisitions.
  8. Preparing land valuation analyses and corporate budgets.
  9. Preparing documentation and analytics for corporate approval of land purchases.
  10. Conducting all business ethically to serve customers and enhance company goodwill and profitability.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly managing two or more employees in the Land Acquisition Department, including hiring, training, performance appraisal, and addressing employee concerns in accordance with organizational policies and laws.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
  • Seven to ten years of relevant experience or training.
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle.
  • Ability to interpret and apply instructions in written, oral, or application form.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and email.

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Creative thinking and attention to detail.
