Job summary

D.R. Horton, Inc. is seeking a Division Land Acquisition Manager to oversee land acquisition activities in an assigned geographic area and supervise the land acquisition team.

You will lead acquisition transactions, review analyses, and align strategies with company objectives. Requirements include 7+ years in land acquisition or related fields and 2+ years of leadership experience, plus strong negotiation and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in Business Administration, Real Estate, Finance, Urban Planning, Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 7+ years of progressive land acquisition/real estate/homebuilding experience.
  • 2+ years of leadership or project leadership experience.
  • Strong ability to develop talent and hold teams accountable.
  • Proven ability to build cross-department partnerships for acquisitions.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn DRH systems.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and develop Land Acquisition Analysts and Managers.
  • Lead acquisition activities and manage associated transactions.
  • Review analyses and recommendations from the team.
  • Establish priorities and monitor pipeline to support objectives.
  • Negotiate and secure land transactions ensuring compliance.
  • Coordinate with development, finance, operations, legal, and executives.
  • Monitor budgets, forecasts, reports and performance metrics.
  • Evaluate market conditions and identify acquisition opportunities.
  • Assist with talent planning, onboarding, training and succession.
  • Improve processes, tools, and reporting for consistency.
  • Travel overnight as needed.

D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Division Land Acquisition Manager. The right candidate will oversee land acquisition activities within an assigned geographic area while maintaining responsibility for assigned acquisition transactions. This role supervises land acquisition personnel, manages departmental operations, and directly supports the execution of land acquisition strategies that align with business objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop Land Acquisition Analysts, Senior Analysts, and Land Acquisition Managers
  • Lead land acquisition activities and maintain responsibility for assigned transactions
  • Review acquisition analyses, due diligence findings, and transaction recommendations prepared by land acquisition team members
  • Establish acquisition priorities and monitor pipeline activity to support business objectives
  • Negotiate and secure land transactions while ensuring compliance with company approval requirements
  • Coordinate acquisition activities with land development, finance, operations, legal, and executive leadership
  • Monitor departmental budgets, forecasts, reports, and acquisition performance metrics
  • Evaluate market conditions and recommend strategic acquisition opportunities and adjustments
  • Support talent planning activities, including interviewing, onboarding, training, performance coaching, and succession planning for land acquisition team members
  • Assist with developing, maintaining, and improving land acquisition processes, tools, and reporting practices to support consistent execution across assigned markets
  • Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profitability of the company
  • Ability to travel overnight as needed

Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Real Estate, Finance, Urban Planning, Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in land acquisition, development, real estate, or homebuilding required.
  • 2+ years of leadership or project leadership experience.
  • Ability to develop talent while maintaining accountability for business results.
  • Proven ability to build productive partnerships across departments to facilitate successful acquisitions.
  • Strong computer skills required, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to quickly learn new programs and systems.
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form, or through DRH applications.
  • Ability to sit for the majority of an 8-hour workday; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk; and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision.
  • The noise level is generally moderate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading land acquisition teams while managing multiple transactions, priorities, and cross-functional relationships in a fast-paced homebuilding or real estate environment.

Salary Range: $110,000 - $130,000
