Deepening social connections and offering shared experiences is a cornerstone of the way we work. We connect as a team at our Team Week experiences four times a year and at our Hub locations – SF Bay Area, NYC Metro Area, NY; Denver, CO; Houston, TX; Calgary, AB; and Toronto, ON. We are currently looking for candidates located within 60 miles of any of the listed hubs to foster more in-person connections while maintaining our flexible remote culture.

About This Role

As part of Intersect’s Land Acquisition team, you’ll help secure the sites that make our renewable energy projects possible. You’ll support land campaigns across solar, storage, OGM, transmission, and data centers, contributing to every stage of the process—from early strategy and due diligence to negotiation, site control, and financial close. Your work will span GIS administration, contract oversight, budget tracking, and direct engagement with landowners and community groups. You’ll collaborate daily with Development and subject matter experts across the company, ensuring land acquisition efforts stay on schedule and aligned with project goals.

Team Overview

The Land Acquisition team is responsible for site selection and control across Intersect’s diverse project pipeline, with a primary focus in the CAISO market. Our scope covers the full cycle of development, from early-stage strategy through to start of construction. We work closely with Development, Permitting, Engineering, Finance, Legal, and Community Engagement to ensure that projects are positioned for long-term success. Joining this team means helping deliver the real estate foundation for gigawatt-scale renewable energy projects while developing skills across negotiation, strategy, and stakeholder engagement.

What You’ll Do
  • Support Site Control
    • Contribute to the land acquisition process from site due diligence through closing site control agreements in support of financing and construction
    • Help resolve title and survey issues to maintain project readiness
    • Administer negotiations for land agreements including leases, purchases, easements, and surface waivers
  • Coordinate Project Administration
    • Manage GIS tools, project trackers, budgets, and schedules to support acquisition campaigns
    • Maintain internal site control trackers and Power BI dashboards to provide progress updates across the organization
    • Assist in preparing and updating land acquisition budgets and executive materials
  • Oversee External Partners
    • Support the oversight of third-party land agents and document specialists, auditing reports and trackers for accuracy and compliance
    • Coordinate document workflows across multiple site control campaigns to ensure timely execution
  • Foster Relationships
    • Work directly with landowners and community groups to build trust and foster long-term positive relationships
    • Collaborate closely with Development and cross-functional teams to align land acquisition with project goals and permitting requirements
    • Provide ongoing support to the Managers, Director, and Head of Land Acquisition
What You’ll Bring
  • A bachelor’s degree in real estate management, finance, economics, or a related field—or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years of experience in real estate, energy, management consulting, finance, or a related field
  • 1+ years of project management experience with proven ability to manage schedules, budgets, and workflows
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage relationships effectively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or other modeling tools; familiarity with Google Earth and GIS software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear updates and reports
  • Independent, self-directed work style with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Familiarity with land and environmental law, policy, or renewable energy is a plus
  • A passion for renewable energy development and advancing the clean energy transition
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% annually to project sites and landowner meetings
