Job summary

Brunswick is seeking an experienced manufacturing associate to perform elementary mix and lay-up of composite materials, fiberglass, and resins onto molds. You will use hand tools, operate vacuum infusion systems, and assist with installing wood cores and components into hulls and decks.

The role requires standing for long shifts, climbing across molds, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Flexibility for overtime and a strong safety mindset are essential in a fast-paced, noisy marine production

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine mixing and lay‑up of composite materials using open mold and vacuum infusion processes.
  • Prepare molds and apply fiberglass materials with hand tools as per work instructions and quality standards.
  • Sand, grind, and finish fiberglass hulls, decks, and small part molds to specifications.
  • Install wood cores, inserts, and other components into fiberglass parts.
  • Operate power tools and equipment (saws, drills, grinders, sanders) safely.
  • Transport molds and materials using forklifts or tugger vehicles as needed.

Job description

Position Overview

Perform elementary and routine mix and lay-up of composite materials, fiberglass, resins, and catalysts onto mold surfaces using hand tools. Utilize open mold and vacuum infusion processes. Work with resins, gelcoats, fiberglass materials, foam, and structural adhesives. Install wood and other components into fiberglass hulls, decks, and small part molds.

Essential Functions
  • Perform routine mixing and lay‑up of composite materials using open mold and vacuum infusion processes.
  • Prepare molds and apply fiberglass materials using hand tools in accordance with work instructions and quality standards.
  • Sand, grind, and finish fiberglass hulls, decks, and small part molds to required specifications.
  • Install wood cores, inserts, and other components into fiberglass hulls, decks, and molded parts.
  • Operate power tools and equipment such as saws, drills, grinders, sanders, overhead hoists, and related tooling safely.
  • Operate forklifts and/or tugger vehicles to transport, stage, load, and unload molds, materials, and finished components.
Required Qualifications
  • Ability to work a 10+ hour shift standing, bending, and reaching.
  • Ability to climb on and through stairs, molds, and staging areas throughout the shift.
  • Moderate lifting ability up to 50 lbs.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, both planned and unplanned, to meet company goals.
  • Adherence to all quality standards and ability to adopt new standards as processes evolve.
  • Record of dependability and reliability with prior work or professional experience.
  • Ability to work well with team professionals.
  • Understand and follow verbal and written directions.
  • Work in close proximity to co‑workers in limited space.
  • Function in a fast‑paced, noisy environment across multiple departments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Skills in forklift, overhead hoist, computer, fiberglass and/or gel‑coat applications.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience.
  • Marine industry experience highly preferred.
Working Conditions

May be required to work in a non‑air‑conditioned area. Regularly required to work at heights on platforms, lifting parts and pieces up to 50 lbs. Fast‑paced and noisy environment.

Compensation

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $20.50 to $23.18 per hour. Base pay will vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, business needs, and geographic location.
