Job summary

Brunswick Corporation is seeking a Laminations Technician in Merritt Island, FL to perform routine mix and lay-up of composite materials onto boat hulls using open mold and vacuum infusion processes.

The role requires reading blueprints, operating power tools, maintaining safety standards, and ability to work long shifts in a hot, humid environment with overtime as needed. Salary range is provided with lamination premium.

Qualifications

  • PPE requirements include respirators, gloves, aprons and suits.
  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Work in hot and humid Florida summers.
  • Stand for 10+ hours; climb stairs and through molds.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs; work in non-climate controlled spaces.
  • Work in a fast paced, noisy environment; occasional overtime.
  • Follow safety standards and chemical handling rules.
  • Read and understand blueprints; operate hand/battery/pneumatic tools.

Responsibilities

  • Performs elementary and routine mix and lay-up of composite materials, fiberglass, resins, and catalysts onto mold surface using hand tools.
  • Utilizes open mold and vacuum infusion processes.
  • Works with resins, gel-coats, fiberglass, foam, and adhesives.
  • Installs wood and other components into fiberglass hulls and decks.
  • Operates power tools including saws, drills, grinders, and hoists.
  • Locates parts using blueprints, work instructions, tools or fixtures.
  • Sands fiberglass hulls, decks, and small part molds.

Lamination Technician Overview
  • Performs elementary and routine mix and lay-up of composite materials, fiberglass, resins, and catalysts onto mold surface using various hand tools.

  • Utilization of open mold and vacuum infusion processes.

  • Works with various resins, gel-coats, fiberglass materials, foam, and structural adhesives.

  • Installs wood and other components into fiberglass hulls, decks, and small part molds.

  • Operates a variety of power tools including but not limited to saws, drills, grinders, and overhead hoists.

  • Locates parts by hand or by utilizing detailed blueprints, work instructions, tools, and/or fixtures.

  • Sanding of fiberglass hulls, decks, and small part molds.

Requirements
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements include respirators, gloves, chemical resistance aprons, and chemical resistant suits.

  • Ability to read a tape measure.

  • Have the ability and desire to work in a hot and humid work environment especially in the Florida summer.

  • Ability to work a 10+ hour shift standing, bending, reaching. As well as, climbing on and through stairs, molds, and staging throughout the duration of your shift.

  • Moderate lifting ability up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, noisy environment

  • Have the flexibility to work overtime both planned and unplanned to meet company goals.

  • Must follow all safety standards and procedures; including chemical handling standards and Personal Protective Equipment

  • Must adhere to all quality standards and adhere to new standards as processes evolve

  • Must demonstrate record of dependability and reliability with prior work or professional experience

  • Must demonstrate the ability to work well with teams professional or otherwise

  • Understand and follow verbal and written directions

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints

  • Ability to use hand, battery, and pneumatic tools

  • Ability to work in close proximity to co-workers and work in areas with limited space

  • Skills in forklift, overhead hoist, computer, fiberglass and/or gel-coat applications preferred

  • Ability to fluently speak, read, understand, and write English

  • High school diploma or GED required

Shift: Must have the availability to work from Monday – Thursday 0530-1600. Overtime is frequently required on Friday based on scheduling needs. Sea Ray reserves the right to adjust shifts and work times as business needs evolve. An hourly premium shift differential is available for this position.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The anticipated pay range for this position is $19.65-25.50, hourly. In addition to base pay, a lamination premium of $2.00 will be included. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location.

At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.
