Job summary

Genesis Products is seeking a Lamination Press Line Operator for our wood processing plant in Mocksville, NC. You will set up, operate, and troubleshoot lamination presses, ensuring production aligns with daily schedules and quality standards.

You will maintain logs, coordinate with quality inspectors, and support training of team members to sustain efficient, safe production with minimal downtime.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in setting up, operating, and troubleshooting lamination press equipment.
  • Strong ability to conduct quality checks and ensure finished products meet company standards.
  • Basic understanding of machine maintenance and reporting needs promptly.
  • Familiarity with wood processing/manufacturing workflows and adherence to schedules.
  • Ability to log production data accurately for reporting purposes.

Responsibilities

  • Meet daily/weekly production schedule with minimal downtime.
  • Set up the machine per the defined run Schedule by the scheduling department.
  • Maintain a clean work area and ensure proper machine clearance.
  • Ensure line remains loaded with proper materials for the schedule.
  • Report quality or material issues to the appropriate supervisor and scheduler.
  • Work with the inspector to ensure board quality.
  • Train, supervise, and provide relief for the inspector.
  • Log production data including downtime and cycle times in the logbook.
  • Report maintenance problems to the Maintenance Department.

What You Need to Know

Genesis Products is seeking an experienced Lamination Press Line Operator for our wood processing manufacturing plant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for:

  • Obtain maximum production (with minimum downtime) in accordance with daily/weekly schedule and established company standards maintaining a favorable balance of quality grades.
  • Set up the machine according to the specific run as defined by the scheduling department. Deviations from schedules must be approved prior to production.
  • Maintain cleanliness; no broken boards under or around the press, no boards leaning against press gates, no paper hanging under the press, pits/staging tables clear of tickets/paper/wood chips, consoles clean and wiped down, excess dust blown off, photo eyes cleaned regularly.
  • Assure that the machine has the proper materials to perform the specific schedule and that the line remains loaded.
  • Report any material problems including quality or unavailability, communicating all paper quality issues with the paper room supervisor and raw board quality issues with the scheduler (to be communicated to the purchasing department).
  • Work closely with the inspector to ensure the quality of the finished board.
  • Responsible for training, communicating with and supervising the inspector and providing relief.
  • Track and maintain accurate records of production in the logbook; of 1st, 2nds, 3rds, temp/pressure/cycle times, full account of all downtime, paper loss and damage.
  • Report any maintenance problems immediately to the Maintenance Department and log the problem into the logbook.
