We are looking for talented and experienced individuals to join our team at Presque Isle State Park as lifeguards. In this role, you will be essential in safeguarding the health and safety of park visitors by monitoring swimming zones, enforcing park policies, and responding to emergencies. This position is ideal for someone with water rescue skills and a passion for outdoor activities, offering a chance to make a meaningful community impact.

As a Lake Erie Lifeguard, your duties include patrolling and monitoring visitor activity at swimming areas from boats, onshore stations, and in the water. You must recognize distress signals and perform rescues using accepted lifesaving techniques, including first aid, artificial respiration, and CPR. Inspecting safety equipment such as buoys and ropes will also be part of your responsibilities.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

1. Seasonal full-time employment from May through September without benefits.
2. Shift hours and days vary; includes a 30-minute lunch break.
3. Work includes weekends, holidays, and shifts as needed, totaling 5 days and 40 hours per week.
4. Telework: Not available for this position.

Qualifications

Special Requirements:

• Obtain a valid Lifeguard Certification (American Red Cross, YMCA, US Lifesaving Association, or recognized authority) within 14 days of employment.
• Obtain valid First Aid and CPR (adult, child, infant) certifications within 14 days of employment.

Other Requirements:

• PA residency waiver is currently in effect for this role.
• Ability to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

• Pass a background investigation.
• Complete child protection and criminal history checks as required by law, including PA State Police, Child Abuse, and FBI clearance, upon offer and every 5 years thereafter.
