Job summary

Lake Compounce is seeking a Maze Host/Stagehand to provide a safe, fun guest experience at park attractions, performing duties across the maze and house areas. You will engage guests with a friendly attitude and help ensure safety and smooth operation.

Excellent communication in English is required; Spanish or other languages are a plus. Applicants should be at least 16, have a high school diploma or be in progress, and be available evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Fluent reading, writing and speaking English required; additional bilingual skills are a plus.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; no prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Delight guests with exceptional customer service and a positive attitude.
• Ensure safe and continuous operation of house/maze attractions.
• Complete daily safety checklists prior to ride operation.
• Explain safety procedures to attendees and enforce park policies.
• Assist guests in and out of maze structures and manage line flow safely.

Lake Compounce - Maze Host/Stagehand (Phantom Fall Fest)

Roles & Responsibilities

• Delight each guest by providing exceptional customer service, conveying a positive and friendly attitude, and engaging with guests in a fun and exciting manner.
• Ensure the safe and continuous operation of all House/Maze attractions.
• Complete daily safety checklist before operation of ride.
• Explain safety procedures to House/Maze attendees.
• Ensure that the number of attendees does not exceed maximum capacity.
• Effectively communicate with coworkers and guests to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Assist guests in and out of the maze structures and cycle through the line efficiently and following all safety procedures.
• Accurately respond to guest questions in a friendly and professional manner.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Proactively monitor assigned areas and quickly identify and elevate any safety hazards or other risks to the proper authorities.
• Ensure compliance with and enforce all park policies, procedures, and labor laws.
• All other duties assigned by leadership.

Language

Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English; Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus.

Education And Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• No previous work experience needed.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age to comply with Connecticut Child Labor Laws.
• Must be able to obtain Working Papers if under the age of 18.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able to work nights up to 12am (midnight).
• Must be playful, outgoing, friendly, and convey a positive, guest‑centric attitude.
• Must possess effective verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow direction, multi‑task, handle stress, and work as part of a fast‑paced team.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for majority of the workday.
• Ability to occasionally stoop, twist, kneel, bend, crawl, or reach above shoulders.
• Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 20 pounds or more.

Working Conditions

• Frequent exposure to outdoor and indoor areas of the park.
• Subject to extreme warm or cold temperatures during the autumn months.
• Exposure to variable outside temperatures, including high heat, cold, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain, snow, ice, and other weather conditions.
• Subject to frequent interruptions, constant repetitive motion, high noise levels, flashing lights, strobe lights, dark and shadowy environments, and heavily populated area.
