The Nurse Practitioner is an independent healthcare provider who, working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary health team will be responsible for providing comprehensive care to both well and ill patients.
The Nurse Practitioner will educate patients and/or their families to promote wellness, prevent health problems, maintain current health and intervene in acute or chronic illness. The Nurse Practitioner will seek opportunities for professional growth through participation in continuing education, staff development and hospital committees.
All duties and responsibilities must be accomplished with the guidelines of the unit, department, division and the hospital in accordance with the Nurse Practitioner-Physician Written Agreement required and approved by the LA State Board of Nursing. The Nurse Practitioner is granted affiliate staff privileges at LKMC and these privileges list specific tasks and are reviewed annually. The Nurse Practitioner will have a direct relationship with the physician services to which assigned. Supervision is provided by the LAK Medical Director. On-call may be required.
