Job summary

Actalent in East Peoria, IL is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to troubleshoot day-to-day process problems, support NPI, and optimize shop-floor processes to improve safety, quality, velocity and cost. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, process engineering, engineering technology, or a related field.
• Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma knowledge with IPVs and Poka-Yoke design.
• Experience with vision systems, automation/robotics, AutoCAD, PFMEA, and gauges.
• Ability to learn VPPA, MESA, Capp+, and PINpoint.
• Assembly manufacturing experience

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day process problems and validate solutions.
• Identify root causes and implement corrective actions for safety, quality, velocity and cost.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) to ensure timely release of drawings.
• Develop and maintain shop-floor processes, routings, BOM/MBOM, ergonomy, and tooling.
• Analyze needs with shop floor users and operations staff and recommend improvements.
• Manage expense and capital needs for assembly areas and process improvements.
• Improve value stream metrics through process improvement activities.
• Provide technical guidance to the value stream for assembly processes.

Job description

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will troubleshoot day-to-day process problems, implement creative solutions, and validate the effectiveness of changes. You will identify root causes and implement corrective actions to enhance safety, quality, velocity, and cost efficiency. You will also support the New Product Introduction process to ensure timely release and processing of engineering drawings, aligning assembly processes with manufacturing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day process problems, implementing and validating solutions.
• Identify root causes and implement corrective actions to improve safety, quality, velocity, and cost.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) to ensure timely release and processing of engineering drawings.
• Develop, implement, and maintain shop floor processes, including managing standard work, routings/work instructions, BOM/MBOM, ergonomic requirements, and tooling.
• Analyze and recommend systems, procedures, training, and equipment needs based on communication with shop floor users and Operations staff.
• Manage expense and capital requirements related to assembly areas, NPI, product capacity increases, equipment replacement, and continuous process improvement.
• Improve value stream metrics through process improvement activities.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to the value stream for assembly processes.

Essential Skills

• Previous experience as a manufacturing engineer in an assembly manufacturing environment.
• Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, process engineering, engineering technology, or a related field.
• Experience with vision systems, automation/robotics, AutoCAD, PFMEA, vision systems, DC tools, and gauges.
• Thorough knowledge of manufacturing concepts including Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, in-process validations (IPVs), Poka-Yoke design, and system/tooling controls.
• Ability to learn and manage new computer systems such as VPPA, MESA, Capp+, and PINpoint.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• CAD experience.
• Prior manufacturing engineering experience at assembly manufacturing companies.
• Exposure to manufacturing processes, with assembly experience being advantageous.
• Experience in process or industrial backgrounds.
• Experience working with gauges is a nice-to-have.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
