Job summary

Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada delivers vital nutrition and breastfeeding education within the WIC program at our clinic in Henderson, NV. The Breastfeeding Coordinator will determine eligibility, provide lactation education, and act as liaison with the State breastfeeding coordinator and local agency staff.

The role emphasizes promoting health for mothers and children, coordinating activities, training staff, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge on breastfeeding practices.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; preferred social service education.
• Nevada Breastfeeding Basics modules completed with 35+ hours of lactation instruction and CLC designation.
• Minimum 1 year consulting on breastfeeding with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide breastfeeding resources in the clinic and liaise with State and local staff.
• Promote health and nutrition for women, infants, and children enrolled in WIC.
• Determine eligibility and complete certifications for participants.
• Oversee planning, implementation and evaluation of breastfeeding support activities.
• Train staff and stay current with breastfeeding recommendations.
