Job summary

Community Health Network is seeking a Lactation Consultant RN or Non-Registered Lactation Consultant in the Maternity unit for night shifts (7:00pm - 7:30am) with every third weekend and holiday rotation. Part-time, 48 hours every two weeks.

The role focuses on education, assistance and support of breastfeeding, working within the care team to promote and protect breastfeeding for mothers and babies.

Qualifications

• Must be a licensed RN in Indiana (NLC) and eligible for IBCLC within 1 year.
• Bachelor's degree is required.
• IBCLC certification required within 1 year of hire.
• 1 year RN experience required; lactation consultant experience in a hospital setting preferred.
• 1 year experience as Registered Dietitian with IBCLC certification.

Responsibilities

• Educate, assist and support breastfeeding for women and children.
• As a member of the health care team, promote, support, and protect breastfeeding.

The Lactation Consultant RD or RN in Maternity will focus on education, assistance, and support of breastfeeding for women and children.The Lactation Consultant RN functions as a member of the health care team to promote, support, and protect breastfeeding.

Exceptional Skills and Qualifications

Registered Nurse:

• Graduate of National League for Nursing (NLN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), or National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA) accredited school of nursing, or three years of related professional nursing experience
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid license to practice in the state of Indiana as listed in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)
• Certification by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBCLC) certification required within one (1) year of hire
• 1 year of RN experience required; 1 year of Lactation Consultant experience in a hospital setting preferred
• Bachelor's degree required
• Certification by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBCLC) certifiation required
• 1 year of experience as Registered Dietitian with IBCLC certification

Non-Registered Lactation Consultant:

• -
• High School Diploma or GED required
• 1 year of Lactation Consultant experience with IBCLC required
