In accordance with education-based athletics, Assistant Coaches will work with Head Coaches to develop an effective coaching program plan which includes skill development, practice planning, supervision of all levels of the sport, focusing on individual and team growth while instilling the highest ideals of character. Assistant Coach will effectively communicate with Head Coach, student-athletes, parents, & administration.
Terms of Employment: 12-month

Teachers or certificated professional educators employed by the local Board of Education. Persons certifiable as professional educators by the State Department of Education according to 13A.12.01. Credentialed coaches who meet the following requirements:
Be knowledgeable of the contents of the Charles County Public Schools Extra-Curricular Handbook and adhere to all policies pertaining to athletics and organization sponsorship. Assist head coach with pre-season meetings. Report directly to the head coach. Set an example of good moral and physical behavior. Make recommendations for improvements and new equipment. Report to practice 30 minutes before practice time on non-school days. Secure the building during and after practices and games. Keep the coach's office clean. Inform players of responsibilities and enforce rules. Teach fundamentals and promote sportsmanship. Check for damaged property and equipment. Ensure all players meet eligibility requirements. Provide certifications to the athletic director/principal. Supervise all practice and activities. Be responsible for conduct and well-being of players/students on trips. Delegate duties to student managers. Attend all games and assist or scout for the varsity. Manage equipment inventory and repairs. Assist with awards, honors, and record keeping. Attend coaches' meetings and clinics. Help with budget requests.
This position requires ambulatory skills to visit various locations; ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift or move light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Good hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and visual acuity are necessary. The employee frequently sits, reaches, talks, and hears.
