Job summary

Five Star Infrastructure Services, dBA InterCon Construction is hiring to join a crew installing underground telecommunications and fiber optic cables. The role requires physical work, site preparation, and adherence to safety standards in outdoor environments.

The candidate will load and transport materials, excavate trenches, install cables, and signal operators for equipment movement while traveling as needed. EOE/H/V/F/M

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license; Class A CDL preferred.
• Willingness to travel and work outdoors in varying conditions.
• Experience in underground utilities is a plus.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly and stay active.

Responsibilities

• Prepare sites to locate utilities and reduce hazards.
• Direct operators to move and align equipment safely.
• Load, unload, and transport materials and tools.
• Excavate and backfill trenches and ditches.
• Install underground telecom cable/innerduct.
• Maintain safety standards throughout all tasks.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare work site to locate utilities and eliminate possible hazards.
• Signal operators to help facilitate movement or alignment of equipment.
• Load, unload and transport construction materials and tools.
• Excavate and fill trenches and ditches.
• Install underground telecommunications cable/innerduct.
• Follow safety standards throughout process.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

• High School Diploma/Equivalent
• Valid Driver's License
• Class A CDL required
• Must be willing to travel
• Must be able to bend/kneel/stand/walk for long periods of time
• Must be able to lift/push/pull 50 pounds regularly
• Must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Experience in underground utilities
• Experience installing fiber optic cables preferred
