Job summary

The Virgin Islands Water & Power Authority in the United States Virgin Islands is seeking a Laborer to perform a variety of manual tasks under general supervision. The role requires following simple, routine instructions and may involve overtime to support 24-hour service.

Qualifications

Job description

Under general supervision, the Laborer performs a variety of manual labor tasks while following simple, routine instructions.

Because the Authority’s primary responsibility is to maintain twenty-four (24) hours of service to its customers, an employee in this class is expected to work overtime as conditions demand and to accept overtime on short notice, during emergency situations, or unusual conditions.

• Uses pickaxe, shovel, and other construction equipment to dig and clean assigned areas.
• Cuts brush around tanks and other areas as assigned; loads truck with garbage to be taken to dump.
• Paints areas as required; sweeps, washes, cleans and paints buildings and equipment.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
